History

The St.Mary's College is an educatiional institution started as a part of the charitable apostalate of the congregation of the sons of the immaculate conception(CFIC) ,founded by the servant of god,blessed Fr.Luigi Maria Monti in 1857 in Italy.The objective behind the establishment of this institution is the overall development of youths who get training in this institution.Let's start a journey through the history of St.Mary's College.

CFIC is established by Fr.Luigi Maria Monti.Its aims are adult education,nursing,look after the handicapped.Shortly the activities of CFIC got a new face in Italy and in other European countries.Then it started its missionary activities in Asia too.

In 1973, the activities of the congregation began in India,the land of multicultures and brotherhood,centralizing Peroor in Kottayam district.Fr.Mathew Chemmarapalli was its initiator.Gradually the misionary activities permeated in the field of education and nursing in India.The devoted activities of CFIC provided a new thought stream to India and her people.CFIC rewrote the concept of education of Kerala.In 1977,CFIC extended its area of activities into various places which provided a new spirit to its misionary activities.

In 1990,with a spiritual and dedicational mind of a christian misionary,Fr.Thomas Kunnath stayed in Puthanangadi along with some brothers.Furthur,it became a necessity for the living and studying and other activities to build a seminari.

In the same year many misionaries came from various places and they established 'Balabhavan' to teach and help children who face difficulties in studying.They established a college for the people who lived in seminari and about 22 students were taught.To manage this educational enterprise Fr.Jose and Fr.Mibil came from Kottayam,the first centre of CFIC in India.After some months they began to establish a college under CFIC.By the grace of God,on 17th June1996,the then collector of Malappuram Mr.James Vargheese inagurated the college in the presence of the then Thamarassery Bishop Mar Jacob Thunkuzhi.In 1996-'97 we started degree batch too.
